The client, Mrs. Padmaja Rao, is a well renowned actress known for her versatility in the profession of acting. She gained popularity for her work in Kannada tele series “Moodala Mane” that portrayed the culture and traditions of a typical Brahmin society in North Karnataka with the use of lavish costumes and ancient locations. The main shooting location, which is the house where the family in the tele series stayed at, was at the Wada that belongs to Desai’s of Handiganur village.
A ‘Wada’ was typically a large building of two or more storey with groups of rooms arranged around open courtyards.
Its innovative utilization of functional spaces has set them apart since their inception in Pune, giving them a spartan yet sophisticated structural elegance. Their clear, precise lines conveyed a distinct nobility.
